Ambassador Javanshir Akhundov met with the Deputy Speaker of the Latvian Saeima, Head of the Latvian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Ms.Inese Lībiņa-Egnere.

The sides expressed mutual satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries. Noting with delight the successful development of inter-parliamentary relations, they expressed their interest in the sustainable development of these relations in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

The sides have also expressed their satisfaction with the establishment of close cooperation between the parliamentary friendship groups of the two countries, and emphasized the importance of increasing joint contacts for the further development of these relations.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual interest.

Ambassador Javanshir Akhundov briefed Ms.Inese Lībiņa-Egnere on the recent Armenian provocations along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the direction of Tovuz district of Azerbaijan since July 12, and expressed his gratitude for the great support and solidarity of the Latvian parliamentarians with Azerbaijan in connection with this act of military aggression.
